I'm thinking that the $20,000 would certainly get me started on the basement but may not be quite enough to completely finish what I would want. Not only do I want the large wet bar and the games I also want a theater room with reclining stadium seating and a 10' screen.

Now I don't have a wet basement or anything, but most basements by their design, few openings to the outside, single or few points of egress, hold odors more readily than other areas of a home. I love burning candles around the house or putting in the scented oil plug-ins. Smell is an important part of making a space. Why do you think aromatherapy is so big lately? Try selling a house that smells like garbage. Smells can make a room feel more inviting or make occupants want to leave. Talk to a Realtor and you will find advice about baking cookies or bread before an open house or boiling a pot of water infused with vanilla and cinnamon.

Take A Romantic Getaway And Take A Break From Blogging

One of my most memorable and romantic vacations was to the Poconos region. While the family was there the resort we were staying at was running several day long New York city tours that included breakfast, lunch, dinner, round trip transportation, and all admissions to the NY area attractions the tour was going to. The price for the tour was a low 60$. The whole family went, My wife, daughter, and I, my parents, my grandmother, and my sister and brother-in-law.

We saw sooo many cool sites around the city. It was a very fun and romantic day with my wife. Yeah other family were along but my wife and I had a blast. It was a day crammed with awe inspiring moments, tearful memories, and national pride. We visited Wall St., Central Park, Manhattan shopping, Broadway, and the Statue Of Liberty and Ellis Island. My only regret about this wonderful tour was that it was only one day. I am really looking forward to getting back and spending some more time in NY. It was one of the best sightseeing tours I have ever done.

The Influence Of The Blogospere Demonstrated Again

Overstock.com is launching a huge promotion on December 3rd called the "All I want for Christmas Giveaway" and they have, like so many advertisers are finally recognizing, are turning to the power of the blogosphere to promote their contest and prizes.

When you enter the contest you can select one item from their website up to but not more than $1,000.00. You can also then send an “invitation link” to up to five friends by putting in the friend's email address. And of course you obviously can't "invite" yourself so don't try. The cool thing is, is that if you win all the friends you referred win as well. Also if one of the friends you referred win too. Pretty cool.

The Stripping Aristologist Contest Winner

Well as you can see from the above screen capture the winning entry is #5. Heading over to the contest post and looking through the comments and the trackbacks I found that Anton of Link Right Contests was entry #5 with his guess of Julia Child. The Ghost Of Ashwins Past

Wow some people are beyond pale. Here I am just coming off a somewhat major illness, making life changing decisions, quitting blogging, selling the site, and what response do I get? I get an email not wishing me well, but attacking me using somewhat harsh language and accusing me of pulling an Ashwin with the current contest. I am only giving away $50 bucks. Chillax I'm good for it.

Here is my response to the email. SUCK IT! My actual response really wouldn't have been appropriate. Okay, first it is my blog and I'll do what I want with it. $50 A Story & A Side Of Pigeon Poop

Lori of A Cowboy's Wife fame is having a contest at her new blog Blogging With Cents. It is a cool contest in which you fill in the blanks to make a story. Mad Libs for adults.

The epiphany happened about a month ago in Wal-Mart of all places. I was rummaging through the clearance underwear when I realized my socks could be seen. You have probably had that experience before. I felt betrayed, and I knew that soon I would have to offer all of my pants on the altar to the fashion god's. I was a little worried about burning down the house though. But then, all of the sudden, I saw Stacy London and Clinton Kelly coming right towards me!! I remembered what a cowboy’s wife had told me. It was very important to breathe and not faint when you see famous people. Before I knew it, I was given the tools and tips to dress like a sexy stud. So you see, I really was a sexy stud all along, and I decided I just had to wear pink and thong underwear to prove it.

I had a funny thought the other day while speaking with a friend. We were sitting in a park and I happened to glance up and see a statue with a few pigeons resting on it's head. You all have probably seen similar things many times. Given the nature of the conversation I thought that Some Days You’re The Pigeon Others The Statue. You just have to live your life and take things as they come. If you are having a pigeon day don't get to cocky because eventually you will have your statue day and if your nose is stuck high in the air you could drown when that pigeon poops. If you are the statue today, don't worry, trouble doesn't last always and you will have your pigeon time.

Stripping By Numbers - Keywords & Traffic, Do They Match?

Whew! The last several weeks have been pretty hectic. A big thanks to all my readers for stopping by and for your thoughtful comments.

I have been asked, more than a few times already, why the heck are you asking for stripping as a keyword anchor text link in your contest. Well I finally got a chance the other day to stop and take a look at my stats for the previous month. One area that I wanted to take a close look at was how my search engine traffic was going, and which keywords were driving the most traffic. What I found was that over the last 30 days my most popular content and they keywords that really drive traffic didn't quite mesh. Honestly I'm not yet real sure what this means, but here are some numbers. My first impression though is that I am not doing as well as I should in both writing for targeted keywords and for readability. As I'm curious by nature I figured I would try a little experiment based on the numbers below and see what happens. That is the short answer for the stripping inclusion. I will also be making more of an effort to write better for my targeted keyword list.

After seeing these numbers I was a bit disappointed in the number of contest entries.

There was a virtual tie for 2nd with three articles posting almost identical traffic numbers.

Now I took the text from these articles and did a keyword study. The only top article with keywords in my top five was the Boca Java article. The others didn't have any keywords in the top 5.

Top Keywords by Traffic

Boca Java Rush, Boca Java Limbaugh, or Boca Java Rush Limbaugh
Visits: 80 Pages/Visit: 1.5 avg. time on site: 1:48

Hits4pay, or Hits4Pay review(s)
Visits: 55 Pages/Visit: 1.8 avg. time on site: 2:03

Stripping, make money online stripping, strip poker, or women stripping
Visits: 49 Pages/Visit: 4.2 avg. time on site: 6:03

Now what really jumped out from these numbers, in my view, was the disparity in pages/visit and avg time on site #'s. The numbers for the "stripping" keyword(s) had a much higher pages/visit and avg. time on site than any of the other top keywords. Again not exactly sure why, by my thought is that it might be the "novelty" factor. What I mean is that they get to my site and realize it isn't quite what they are looking for but the "novelty" of the article catches their attention. I am just that good :). Not really. Well I know that Bloggrrl had a similar problem with masturbation being one of her top terms for a while. Well I figured I would do my blogging version of "if you can't beat'em, join'em." I really would have figured that the traffic generated by the stripping keywords would have had low pages/visit, avg time on site, and a high bounce rate. They had none of those to my surprise. So looking at the stats for these keywords I figured I might just a do a bit more experimentation and see after another month what happens. That is why, in answer to several questions, I once again used the term stripping in a post title. I figured that while working on writing better for my list of actual targeted keywords, I could also take advantage of an already high keyword set that drives good traffic.

Well the September Contest is finally here. I have been pretty much MIA for a little over a week to take care of some offline "stuff." By the way, it is nigh on impossible to blog by cell phone. I am back now though and getting into the groove again and felt like giving something away!

The contest rules are simple. Of course I can't make them totally idiot proof, last month proved that :), because there will always be some "brilliant" idiot that makes it through all the idiot proofing in place. That said here it is. Oh and read everything before doing anything :) .

The Contest

Guess my favorite Gourmet Chef. You don't even have to be right to win! I have been asked many times why I sometimes blog about Boca Java Coffee, La Cense Beef, and Dale and Thomas Popcorn as Seen on Rachel Ray!. Well it is for two reasons. One, as an amateur aristologist I love unique and gourmet foods and I have tried these and really like them. Two, it is about money. Shocking I know, but I am an affiliate marketer.

Now I had a few complaints last month about the subjectivity of the contest, always someone to complain, so I have given it some thought. I like the idea of people guessing something. It is fun and actually requires a bit of thought. That being said this contest will have two ways to win. See the rules below for details.

The Rules

1. Post an article with your guess on your blog linking back to THIS article using the keywords Stripping Aristologist. There also needs to be one more link back to the home page of this blog using the keywords Profitable Affiliate Marketing.
   Got it? Two links required. Check out Vijay's entry post to get an idea of a good entry.



Example: Profitable Productive Blogging a blog about Profitable Affiliate Marketing is running a contest The Stripping Aristologist where you can win $50 cash and a bonus prize valued at $25. The contest is to guess Cman's favorite gourmet chef. The winner is picked at random from all entries so you don't have to be right to win. If the winner is right however, they will win a bonus prize valued at $25.



2. Post a comment to this post including your guess and a link to your entry post. I will sequentially assign numbers to the entries in the order the comments are received. These assigned numbers will be your entry number.


3. To be valid entries must include the post on your blog with your guess and both required links, and the comment with guess and link to your post.

And The Winner Is.....4 Real This Time Folks

Well here it is folks! This is the post you have all been waiting for. I know the suspense is killing you. After my teaser post yesterday folks started getting hostile :) . So I figured I better reveal the answer and the winner before I get tracked down by an angry mob. Well now that I have run through all of that let me get on with things. And the answer is.....

The nickname of Cman started way back my freshman year of high school. It really only stuck because some silly freshman girls thought it sounded funny. The actual person that started the whole thing was the varsity basketball coach Steve. He first called me Cman and like I said once the girls heard it it and thought it funny it stuck. That stupid Cman nickname has stuck every since. I really don't mind and many friends from high school still tease me about it to this day.

OK already what the F does the C stand 4? Well I have to admit to a bit of what the lawyers would call a leading question. I really did think though that at least one person would be creative enough to pull out the winning answer, unfortunately there WAS NOT a winning guess :( . There were many creative guesses though. Dang Cman you are long winded :) . All this crap and you still haven't said the what the answer is. Here it is for real this time. The answer is:

The C doesn't stand for anything other than C. When setting up plays coach would always tend to call one guy A man another B man another C man and so on. I always tended to be at the 3 position and thus ended up almost always being Cman. So I guess in a way the C really doesn't stand for anything. Hmmmm I hope no one thinks it was a trick question. And if you do go up a paragraph and read sentence 3.

Well 3:30 PM CST has come and gone and Ted Kosmatka, a great author friend of mine, has opened the envelope and the answer to the great question What the F Does the C Stand 4 been revealed. Disheartened By Carping Criticism I Feel The Need to Elucidate

Paragraph 1
Okay no offense to most of you reading this, and only a bit to those of you who I am directing this toward, but some of you need to read more of my blog. I have a sarcastic ironic and satirical sense of humor that you might pick up on. Really, try reading some other articles and maybe, just maybe, this profundity will not be lost on you. I have a contest running where people are to guess What the F Does the C Stand 4. Now I personally didn't feel there was anything overly confusing and I certainly don't want to dampen the inquisitive spirit of you my readers, but HUH? Here are the rules as stated in the contest post.

Rules:
1. To enter you will need to write a post linking back to and mentioning this contest and your guess.

2. Leave a comment to this post that includes the url of your entry post.

3. One entry per person but if you really really feel the urge to guess more than once, feel free to write multiple posts (limit 5), each containing a different guess and each linking to a different article on this site. Each additional post other than your
first one must be at least 1000 words and full of nothing but praise or, if you are of a sarcastic bent, platitudes for this site.

4. All entries must be received by Update: I have extended the contest until 3:30 P.M Central Time on August 31st. Any entries after this deadline could however receive special recognition in a random conversation with a passerby.

5. If for some odd reason you would like to enter without posting please Donate $20 and put your entry in the item field.

Paragraph 2
I received an e-mail from a reader complaining about #6 and saying that there wasn't an ebook and that it was only a link to paypal. At first I thought it was a joke. Then I read a bit more and realized that they were serious and I was being chastised for being disingenuous. I also received several other emails lamenting the difficulty of #3. To deal with the vexing issue of the first complaint I have added a short explanation to the end of #6. To address the difficulty a few of you are having with #3 see paragraph 1 sentence 2. If you still don't get it you obviously don't and won't get the point so let it go. Just quit. You have other issues that can't be addressed in the short amount of time we have here.

Paragraph 3
Having been really disheartened by the carping criticism I therefore felt the need to elucidate a bit on the nature of my humor. For those of you with ADD or ADHD reference sentence 2 paragraph 1 for a truncated explanation. For those of with slightly longer attention spans you can reference sentences 1 and 3 of paragraph 1 and work from there. Now to address you who are still reading. Enter the contest, if you haven't already, and finish reading as there really isn't that much more anyway.

Paragraph 4
Dang! Now I just know I'm going to be getting emails about which paragraph is which. So as to avoid confusion I have labeled the paragraphs for you. I have not, however, labeled the sentences for the sake of readability. Sorry I just felt the need to vent a little. Here is a big THANKS to all of my readers and contest entrants.
