What To Do With A Sub-Par Article

Have you ever written an article and when you were finished you just were not happy with how it ended up? What do you do with it?

My article writing might be a bit different than yours so let me explain how I write my articles. I usually write most of my main articles in one sitting. Throughout the week as I come up with topics to write about I will clip articles and pages and save them into a draft for the article. When I finally sit down to write out my articles I will usually have 4-5 drafts and a lot of different articles, pictures and pages clipped. I will then build off of that and flesh out the article.

Many times when I am done I will go back over each article and read it checking for spelling and grammar. The next day I will read them all again to hopefully find things I missed on the first go around. After this second proof reading I will then schedule the articles for the week. Almost without fail there will be at least one or two articles that I just am not happy with and won't schedule for publication and will just leave as a draft.

The next week I will pick those "left-over" articles back up to see If I have any fresh ideas. Usually what I end up doing is scavenging these articles for newer ones and then they eventually get deleted. So for me most of my articles good or bad eventually get used one way or the other. I either rework them to the point of being published or pull bits and pieces for other articles and then delete what is left if anything.

What do you do with articles that just don't cut it? Do you write articles you never publish? What do you do with those? Do you take the time to try and change them up and then publish or do you salvage them for parts?

Last Day To Reach $1500 January Goal

In case you missed it I have set a goal for this blog to earn $1500 in January. When I set this goal it was on January 15th and I had earned a total of $606.33 so far for the month. I am determined to meet this goal and I wanted to keep everyone updated as to my progress. With just a little under 9 hours left in the month I feel that I am getting close.

In my last $1500 Goal Update on January 24 I had a Total MTD: $1015.27. Here is the breakdown through that day.

Affiliate Sales: $647.26
Paid Posting: $303.07
Contextual Ads: $48.81
Ad/Link Sales: $10.00
Misc: $6.13

From that day I needed to average just a touch over $60 per day to reach my goal. I haven't ran down all the numbers yet today and won't have the compete totals to report until tomorrow but I feel that I am close. I know my affiliate sales have continued to increase, while my paid posting has tapered off a bit. I was getting tired of typing :) and I figured you might be tiring as well. I have no idea as to the contextual ads until I add them up tomorrow. I haven't had anymore ad or link sales so that number has stayed steady. I will be doing, already have actually, a few paid posts this afternoon and this evening to do everything I can to hit my goal. I hope this quest has been as inspiring to you as it has been fun to me. You can make money blogging, and you can make money with FREE blogs. You can make money without being one of the "big boys." Stay tuned for the final numbers coming tomorrow.

Get The Hardware You Need For Your Business

I have talked with so many of my readers that are also small business owners. Lots of folks that are running a business from their home offices or those that have an actual retail store front or commercial office. Running even a home based business requires a certain amount of hardware, but running an office or retail front requires even more.

IT Planet is a website that offers discount hardware for businesses including bar code label printers, barcode scanners, touchscreens for POS, as well as a large selection of security cameras and systems. These are all things that can help your small business be more efficient and more profitable. Trust me you need to have a barcode scanner if you are in retail. Run a cafe or restaurant you need touchscreen systems.

Both commercial office or retail space need security camera systems. You have to protect your assets and having security cameras and other loss prevention devices is a must. Depending on your type of business limiting entry to authorized personell could also be an issue. Having scan card systems or other type of ID systems is the solution. IT Planet has them all. Security can also mean data security as well so don't forget to install proper hardware like surge protectors and battery backup and software protection for you business's valuable data.

Beat Blog Fatigue In 5 Easy Steps

How many times have you been busy with your job, spouse, kids, home duties, hobbies, community obligations or whatever else occupies your daily waking hours and just didn't feel like blogging. Well here are 5 quick tips to help you overcome that blog fatigue.

  1. Post a link list article. Have you read some good articles recently? Put together a list of the best of what you have been reading. This style of post is quick and easy to put together and is also a great way to build relationships with other bloggers. Contact the authors of the articles you are linking to and let them know they have been featured. You never know you just might get some return "linkage."

  2. Read and Cross-link old posts. This is something you should do periodically anyway, but it is also great to do when you are running out of ideas. I have found that through this process I always get new ideas for articles. Take the time to put some links to some of your newer content in older related content. This will also help in finding some other related articles and chances for linking to the older posts.

  3. Recycle an old post. Now if you have read over your old posts and done some cross-linking and still haven't found some new inspiration, then this is a great idea. The key is to pull from posts about 3 months old, and don't just leave it the same way. Re-work it a bit. Add a new picture element, change the title, add some links, update with some recent experiences, but don't just leave it the same.

  4. Give Your Blog a mini makeover. You don't need to change your template or anything drastic. Little tweaks can make a big difference. Change some colors around, add a new widget or plugin. Things like this can help break through the blog boredom. If you feel your blog is looking better it helps motivate you to produce.

  5. Write a review. I know for me that sometimes even when I'm not inspired to write something I can still review a money making program, affiliate program, or another blog. Pick a smaller blog, someone who has commented on your blog, or added you to their technorati faves, someone that is connected to your blog in some way and has their own blog. I'm sure they wouldn't mind a free review. Of course you will need to probably make it at least neutral :) to positive. Don't blast another blog that isn't nice! If you don't have another blog to review write one about an affiliate program you are involved in, or a money making opportunity you have been successful at. Reviews are simply your thoughts and feelings on and impressions of something and so are fairly easy to do even during times of blog fatigue.

There you go! Now go break of your slump and get back into your blogging groove. Do one of these suggestions each day for 5 days and I am sure it will help. This article is the third installment in My "5 Easy Steps" series. Read the other great articles Feed Failure in 5 Easy Steps and Feed Success in 5 Easy Steps.

Don't Invest Without Title Insurance

As someone who buys and sells real estate I understand the value of title insurance. What is title insurance and why is it necessary? Well title insurance is basically insurance that the title for the real property is clear. It is of utmost importance that you receive clear title to the property when you purchase real estate. In order to do so, you must first be informed of any existing rights or claims that may, in the future, threaten your title and possession to the property. Title insurance provides you with this twofold protection.

Those who may have an interest in or lien upon the property could be governmental bodies, contractors, lenders, judgment creditors, the Internal Revenue Service, or various other individuals or corporations. The real estate may be sold to you without the knowledge of the interest bearing party having a right or claim in and to the property. In addition, you may purchase the real estate without having any knowledge of these rights or claims. In either event, these rights or claims remain attached to the title of the property that you are buying until they are taken care of.

Title companies will do a title search to find the existence of recorded defects, liens or encumbrances upon the title such as unpaid taxes, unsatisfied mortgages, judgments and tax liens against the current or past owners, easements, restrictions and court actions. Once reported, these matters can be accepted, resolved or extinguished prior to the closing of the transaction. You are also protected against any recorded defects, liens or encumbrances upon the title that are not reported to you and which are within the coverage of the particular policy issued by the title insurance company.

Title insurance gives you the assurance the title to the property you are purchasing is clear and problems have been called to your attention and can be corrected before you buy. Additionally, it is insurance that if any undiscovered claims covered by your policy show up out of the past that threaten your ownership of the real property, it will be taken care of, or you will be reimbursed exactly as your title insurance policy provides.

Blogging Without Power

Monday night around 11:45ish I was sitting watching some TV, blogging, & chatting with friends when suddenly the whole house went black. I had no power. This lasted for about an hour and then everything returned to normal. I was using my laptop but I had my battery removed so when the power shut off so did the computer. I didn't feel like digging around in the office in the dark to find the battery. It could be so many places depending on the mood I was in when I removed it last. Anyway, this little scenario got me thinking about blogging without power.

I would define power as having control of, authority, or influence over others. How does one define the power of a blog? There are various rankings from Technorati, Alexa, Google, and others as well. What do they mean though? What do they represent and do they give a good indication of the power of a blog? Does a blog that had a PR6 in October last year that now has a PR4 have less power? What about if that same blog now has 1000 more RSS subscribers than it did in October? What if the blog's revenue has increase by 30% in the same span? Does the blog have more power due to the increases in subscriptions and revenue? Does it have less now that its PR is lower?

Lets look again at the definition I put forth for power, "having control of, authority, or influence over others." Would you say the Google PR drop or the increases would have a greater impact on power based on my basic definition? I think the answer to this question seems straight forward, but break down the definition into its parts and have a closer look.

Having control of. Does the blog have control of PR? How about subscriptions and revenue. Google holds the power when it comes to PR and how it wants to determine and award it. The blog holds the power when it comes to controlling content, most variables that drive subscriptions, as well as control over generating revenue. Now what if the blog lost a large portion of search traffic from Google because of the PR drop? This in turn reduces traffic, reducing RSS subscriptions, and reducing revenue. Now who holds the power? A blog owner has control over content, marketing, design, revenue generation and more. He or she holds the power for that blog. Google holds the power over PR and where a result ranks for searched keywords. The blogger then has control over how to position the blog so that it is the least dependent on Google or any other single traffic source as possible. In my opinion the blogger ultimately is the one having control of the blog, Google doesn't hold that much power yet...There is nothing wrong with writing for SEO, but remember who you are writing for. Write exclusively for ranking in Google, or any other search engine for that matter, and you give them the power. Write what you want and what people want to read. Write in your own style and with your own personality, and you hold the power over your blog.

Authority. What defines a blog's authority? It certainly isn't Technorati as it is too easily gamed. What makes a blog authoritative? There are many factors that go into authority. Age of the blog is one, quality of content is another, and of course you have traffic and subscription numbers thrown in as well. Another factor is the background of the author. A person who is already well know in certain circles has authority before even putting finger to key. Conversely a person not well known has a much more difficult time as the experience and network aren't already in place. Authority then really comes from a track record of success and actual life experience. For example, a friend of mine Lori of A Cowboy's Wife, wouldn't have much authority if she was single and living in LA or NY with nary a cowboy in sight. She has been successful because she has authority in the area in which her blog is focused.

Influence over others. This is tied closely with authority. The more authority you have or are perceived to have the more influence you will have over others. Influence is also determined by the style and quality of writing. Just as there are more dynamic and influential speakers, there are more dynamic and influential writers and bloggers. You can have authority on your topic yet not be the most influential. You can be influential without having as much authority as the next guy. Stephen Hawking is one of the most recognizable faces of science and physics specifically and in the eyes of many still today has a large amount of authority. Yet it can be argued that he has not had the greatest actual influence on the physics community over the last 35 years. His authority comes from his visibility and his influence is greater in the lay world than in the physics world. His books and speaking engagements and even to a point his struggle through his disability all contribute to his authority.

Bottom line is that an author holds the control over the content of the blog. The authority for the blog and author comes from a track record of success, actual life experience, and visibility. Influence really comes down to the perceptions people have. The better they perceive you the more weight they give to your opinions - authority - and the more they will allow those opinions to shape their own - influence.

How do you define the power of a blog? What do you think defines a blog's authority? How about influence? How closely do you think authority and influence are tied?

Resource For My Photoshop Using Readers

As you can tell from my last article I use Gimp instead of Photoshop, but I know there are quite a few of you out there that use Photoshop. I have found some really cool brushes and patterns for Gimp, and I know there are a ton more for Photoshop. In my last article I listed several sites where Gimp users can get brushes, textures, patterns, tutorials and more. So now for all of you Photoshop users I want to give you some information on a site you can visit for Photoshop Brushes and patterns. Brusheezy is probably one of the coolest sites to find brushes and patterns for Photoshop. I know that there are a lot of Gimp folks out there that recreate so to speak many of the brushes found on Brusheezy. If you are Photoshop user head over to Brusheezy.com.

Gimp Or Photoshop?

There have been quite a few times I have found myself in need of a graphic for my sites or a landing page. I can't always find what I want on the web and in the past have had to either pay someone to do it or just do without. I had never really found a good robust image software package and am not going to spring for Photoshop. I just don't do enough to warrant the high cost.

I came across a free gnu program that is in many ways similar to Photoshop. The program is called The GIMP. GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.
It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.

GIMP is expandable and extensible. It is designed to be augmented with plug-ins and extensions to do just about anything. The advanced scripting interface allows everything from the simplest task to the most complex image manipulation procedures to be easily scripted.

GIMP is written and developed under X11 on UNIX platforms. But basically the same code also runs on MS Windows and Mac OS X. To download this powerful, and FREE, program visit http://www.gimp.org/downloads/. The GIMP team doesn't officially provide any Windows binaries. You can, however, install GIMP easily using the Windows installers by Jernej Simončič.

* Download GIMP 2.4.2 – Installer for Windows 2000 and above

There is also a great GIMP user community where you can get tutorials and ask questions from other users. Here are three sites, there are many more, that I visit and have found about the best.
* http://gimp-tutorials.net/
* http://www.gimpusers.com/
* http://gimper.net/

These are great sites and I have always found the information I was seeking. I have learned a lot about the program and it's capabilities from the sites. Download the program and then start doing some of the tutorials and you should pick up the program pretty quick. I can't say this enough though that you should immediately go through some of the simpler tutorials and get familiar with the program.

What graphics program, if any, do you use? Have you used Photoshop or something else? Have you used GIMP? If so what versions and have you tried out the most recent version?

Computer Illiterate Friends

Many of my friends know that I run online businesses and work with computers on a regular basis. The ones that know me well also know I build computers and actually hold Microsoft Certification. Many moons ago I would build computers and sell them on ebay. Don't do that anymore though I just do my own or for friends and family. I also don't really use my Microsoft Cert much either. A friend and I were considering a small business last year and we both went through the certification program together. Wow did I get sidetracked.

Anyway.....The point was is that many of my friends, while they use a computer at work and at home, are functionally illiterate when it comes to most software and hardware. What happens is that they always are asking me to help with this or that. Come help my kids screwed up the computer Come help I screwed up the computer. Can you make my computer go faster? Hey you know how to set up a home wireless network don't you? The questions never end. I don't mind helping most of the time, but It would be nice if they wouldn't just assume I am going to help. I don't really think they have an understanding of how much money I save them. I'm not asking for anything in return, I just wish that they would appreciate the value of the service.

If you aren't lucky enough to have a friend like me :) then you probably do understand the value of good computer help. You also probably know how frustrating computer issues can be. If you own a small business or run a business from your house it can be even more frustrating. I know a blogging friend of mine had an issue with her computer a while back and it cost her some down time and probably revenue.

Blogging is a small business and you should run it as such. Even if it is just you and your blogs, it is a small business. You have expenses, income, deductions, depreciation, and a ton of other big words. I am not a tax or business expert, I leave that to my accountant. My accountant does though require some things of me. I have to keep good records. Now let me tell I am probably not the best at that. Early last year when I added this blogging stuff into my online business I decided I need some help managing everything. I bought Quickbooks software and started using it for my book keeping. Wonderful software let me tell you.

Even though I am on the high side of the software knowledge curve I had a few issues with the software and knew I could probably get more out of it. No I didn't enlist a friend. I called around and found several places that offered Quickbooks training. I also found a few places online. The training varied from online courses to actual on-site training. I elected the latter that way I could use my computer, my software, and my data. The guy came right to the house and worked with me so that I completely understood the software. he showed me tricks and little tools I didn't even know were available through QuickBooks! It was certainly worth the time and has made managing my businesses way easier.

This incident is actually what prompted my friend and I to seriously look into starting a on-site computer service company. There weren't any good ones locally, the one I used was based over 20 miles away. We actually contacted the company that I had do my training to inquire as to franchise opps. They had a great setup with only $19,500 for the franchise package and another $6,000 or so for start-up and advertising. For around $25,000 we could have had a great business. We ultimately decided against it and instead decided to put a bit more time and effort into our real estate ventures.

Get Away From Blogging On Valentine's Day

On the Friday of Valentine's Day weekend I am going on a date with my daughter to a daddy/daughter "Sweetheart Dance." Each year the local parks district sponsors this event and I think it is a great idea. I am also planning a little getaway for me and my girlfriend. It is always nice to take some time away, even just one night, to just spend together someplace different and special. It would probably be a good idea to leave the laptop, quick with the blackberry, and just unplug for the time. Stop blogging and get romantic on Valentine's Day.

I don't think a Valentine's Day getaway has to be extravagant in the extreme. I don't think you have to fly somewhere or spend tons and tons of money. Although it is probably not a good idea to stay in cheap hotels either. The real question is whether or not you put some thought into it, and did you at least try to make it romantic in some way.

There is a great romantic option around the Chicago called Sybaris. They have some phenomenal suites with pools, hot tubs, steam & rain showers, and more. They are so cool and of course romantic. Staying there is one of my favorite romantic getaways. If you are looking for some other ideas you should check out some of these great Hotel Guides for various cities around the country and even around the world. They have some great tips on romantic getaways, things to do while you are there, and more. They can help you decide where to go and what to do while you are there.

Free Traffic For Your Website

OK, so you're on a tight budget and you need to build up the traffic to your website? When you build a website, it is very easy to overload your wallet, as the running costs start to escalate. As costs start to snowball out of control, it's now that you realize you need to find free traffic. How? Well, you may think it's impossible, but it's not. You can develop truckloads of free traffic, with the only cost to you being energy, effort and time. If you can commit to this, then you will most certainly get the traffic you desire.

Links

Developing links with other websites is one way to develop traffic to your site. Have a look at sites that are similar in size and compatibility with yours. When you find them, contact the owner and see if they're willing to post a link to your site - make sure you offer to return the favor to them as well. By doing this, both sites will benefit with a boost of traffic and correspondingly help your search rankings. There are also automatic link swapping programs available, however, I would take care when using these, as you need to be aware of where your links are being posted. You most certainly don't want your link to end up on an inappropriate site. In addition, the link routing can also effect the impact you have.

An incredibly easy way to gather links back to your site is to write content (or articles) which can be used on other sites. When you provide content for use on other sites, your link remains with the content, providing a link back to your own site.

This method is especially effective, so make sure you contact article directory websites, social bookmarking sites and any other site that would be willing to link back to your site.

SEO

This is not always a 'free' method. It can actually cost a lot of money to put together an SEO strategy, if you choose to go this way. However, if you can take the time to develop quality content, utilizing suitable keywords, develop a blog which is keyword enhanced, build up your links with other sites, you will find steadily but surely, your visitors will increase, with the flow on effect of climbing up the rankings.

Remember, you need to work with the search engines, creating a strategy that meets with your visitors needs. By doing this your site will develop a strong foundation, that will continue to strengthen and grow well into the future.

Networking

Networking is still a very valid method of building traffic. Obviously, most of your contacts will be online these days, in various forums, groups or boards. But the same process for developing relationships apply, irrespective of whether you're talking with someone in person or chatting with them online. Get involved in some online communities and learn what your competitors and other marketers are doing with their businesses. Online communities are great places to meet other like minded people, find out what's new in the internet marketing world and tell them about what you're doing on your own site. You might even find that your competitors become your customers.

Conclusion

So, can traffic really be free? Well, nothing is really ever for free, it just depends on how you want to pay for it. Should I pay with money? Yes you can pay for it if you have a large budget and funds to spare, but the smart marketer, pays for his traffic with time and effort used to build and develop a quality website, filled with content that visitors will need and use. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you must 'spend money' to 'make money'. If you put your time and effort into these methods, you will be HUGELY surprised at the amount (and speed) of traffic you will develop. Put together a process, stick with it, right to the end and you will see the beauty of free traffic and how it builds a thriving business.

Attention Entrepreneurs! Get The Capital You Need

Do you have a small business? Do you take Visa and Mastercard? Are you in need of Quick Business Cash to finance a business expense? If you answered yes I have a solution you might want to consider. You should consider a small business capital advance. This is not even close to a payday loan so don't think that. Through this program your business will receive cash in exchange for the purchase of a small portion of your anticipated future Visa and MasterCard sales. The cash advance will be deposited into your business checking account allowing these funds to be accessible immediately. This is not a loan; it will not require a complicated application process, collateral, or unnecessary fees. You can choose to use your cash advance to fulfill any of your business needs.

There is no fixed payment schedule, and repayments are made only when you get paid by your customers. It's the convenient way to get cash right when you need it most. You can get cash to purchase new equipment, upgrade technology, expand your business, add additional locations, or whatever you business need is. This is a great solution for many small business owners. It allows you that instant cash infusion and you only pay it back as you get paid by your customers. You also get to keep other capital sources open for other uses.

$1500 January Update -

In case you missed it I have set a goal for this blog to earn $1500 in January. When I set this goal it was on January 15th and I had earned a total of $606.33 so far for the month. I am determined to meet this goal and I wanted to keep everyone updated as to my progress. With just a little over 1 week left in the month I am getting close.

I will only give totals through yesterday as I am not done earning yet today! The totals will be through the end of the day Wednesday, January 23.

Here is where the earnings stand for the month.

Affiliate Sales: $647.26
Paid Posting: $303.07
Contextual Ads: $48.81
Ad/Link Sales: $10.00
Misc: $6.13

Total MTD: $1015.27

That is an average of a little over $44 per day so far this month. If I maintained that rate I would fall just a bit short of my goal. Counting today the 24th there are 8 days left in the month. I will need to average just a touch over $60 per day to reach my goal. I have lagged a bit on daily income since my last update but hopefully I can make a big push this week and hit my goal.

Clustered Web Hosting For Your Small Business

Concentric Business Solutions, a leading provider small business hosting, has a unique solution to the typical shared hosting. They offer what they call Clustered Hosting. It is a patented hosting platform designed to eliminate many of the problems inherent with typical shared web hosting. Instead of your site being hosted on a single shared server with clustered hosting you are not limited to one server. You access the processing power of many servers and your applications are distributed in real-time. All web traffic is dynamically load-balanced across many servers by Clustered Hosting as well, so the impact of an increased load is diluted. Instead of a single server handling the traffic for multiple shared sites, clustering ensures that Web servers are available to handle huge spikes in traffic.

You can get domain name registration services and email hosting for your small business web sites. They offer the typical free domain name with every hosting account. With each account you get web hosting, email hosting, and domain hosting registration services--including Private Domain Registration--for small businesses with our dedicated and shared clustered web site hosting provider services. They offer free spam filters as well as built in virus protection.

Their prices are very competitive with other hosting providers. With their patented Clustered hosting it is a great hosting solution at a great price. The even offer a free 30 day trial. They have monthly, yearly, and multi-year hosting options depending on your budget and needs. If you are looking for an affordable, scalable, and reliable web host you should consider Concentric and their Clustered Hosting options.

Quick Tip For Beginning Bloggers & Affiliate Marketers

Who are you? What kind of a person are you? What are you hobbies and interests? What are some things you are passionate about? The reason I am asking is that in my experience the people that do the best and actually stick with and put in the work and time necessary are the ones that blog from their personal experience. I might get in trouble saying this, but it isn't simply put up a site and make big bucks tomorrow. I know there are a lot of people out there selling and hyping some product or system that will make you a dot com blogging millionaire overnight. I'm not knocking them. I've even bought a few of them. Almost all have great ideas, strategies, techniques, and software that can help you in making money blogging and with affiliate marketing.

Bottom line though is that it takes time to write quality content. Just a quick tip, post as much original content as possible and very little pre-written articles. It takes time to build relationships with other bloggers. It takes time to build links both incoming and outgoing. It takes time to build a reputation.

There are soooo many that start this thing up and then quit a few months later. You can make good money online through blogging and affiliate marketing but you have to endure through the crappy times. Sounds very cliche I know but believe me there will be some times you don't feel like blogging in the slightest and want to quit because you aren't seeing a return. Those are the times when having something you love something you are passionate about, something that is more personal helps immensely.

Diamonds Are A Man's Best Friend

I know I changed that saying up a bit, but think about it. When a man has no idea what to get for his wife or girlfriend he can always get a diamond. When a man screws up and needs to apologize, other than a sincere about face, nothing says I'm sorry like a few sparkling carats. As Valentine's Day approaches there will be thousands of guys racking their brains trying to come up with a gift idea. Quick tip, give up and buy her a diamond ring, necklace, ear rings, bracelet, something with a real diamond sparkley thingy in it. That way you can just chill out, relax, and enjoy the Super Bowl...

I have bought quite a few pieces of diamond jewelry online and have been extremely happy with my purchases. The key really is buying from a well known reputable place. I wouldn't recommend swindley-diamond-store.freewebs.com. A brand name or well known established site is probably your best bet. Just a tip though so take it or leave it.

I was introduced to a new online diamond retailer today Ciara Diamonds. I hadn't heard of them before so I stopped by the website to check them out. Ciara Diamonds is not yet open for business. I still poked around the site for a bit to see what information I could glean about them.

At first glance the site doesn't look too bad. The layout is very user friendly and the color scheme and graphics are nice. According to the site they are dedicated to customer satisfaction. A good thing to be dedicated to but their customer service page still points to a contact us page that still has the "lorum ipsum" filler text and nothing else. I'm sure though once they are completely live that will be taken care of. Their also aren't yet any diamonds to look at, but once open, they assured me that there will be a huge selection of expertly cut diamonds and a search tool with a variety of search options. They are only going to sell certified diamonds which is a plus for the consumer. They also are going to offer free shipping and free returns.

The thing that caught my attention was their guarantee. They offer a Three-year Diamond Insurance Guarantee. They say that within three years of purchase, you may return the ring for any reason. The diamond you return within three years will be valued at the price you paid for it. That is an innovative idea to the diamond industry and if upheld would allow customers to always shop with risk-free confidence. The only drawback I see is that with the relatively new nature of the site and company people might be a bit leery and think that if it is too good to be true it probably is.

My overall first impression is that the site is going to be very well presented and offer a great selection of high quality certified diamonds with free shipping. They are going to offer a phenomenal Three-year Diamond Insurance Guarantee with free returns in the event you need it. I think that given a bit of time to establish their reputation Ciara Diamonds will be an online diamond retailer to be reckoned with.

The "First Black President" Has A Dream

Sorry I know this doesn't really have a thing to do with making money via affiliate marketing or blogging but this is too freakin' hilarious. As the so called "first black president" Bill Clinton celebrated the great civil rights leader Martin Luther King's dream for America with a dream of his own. Check out this video of "slick willy" taking MLK's dream speach a little too literally.

Blogging Hurts

I don't know how you do it, but I tend to spend a block of time blogging. I will spend a certain amount of time writing articles, browsing forums, and reading other blogs. Usually after sitting for a while my back hurts. Christmas 06 I got one of those homedics massaging back cushion things and I love it. I wouldn't say it is "like having a real shiatsu message therapist," but it certainly is pretty good. Every since getting that I have been wanting one of those full massage chairs with the leg massage as well.

You never know with my birthday coming up in a few weeks I just might get lucky. The ones I see quite a bit are Massage Chairs by Human Touch. They use only the most advanced robotic massage technology and systems in their industry-leading massage chairs. They have and amazingly human-like massage that replicates the rolling, kneading, compression and percussion techniques of massage professionals. Much better than my little massaging back cushion. The thing I like so much about them is that they give a full-body massage that follows the contours of your spine and body from neck to foot, not just the back.

Do you ever spend so much time at your computer that your back or neck hurts? What do you do to alleviate or avoid this? I also spend a lot of time on my job using a computer so I get a double whammy. That is why I would love to have a full body massage chair at home.

You Can Get A Credit Card

For those of you that don't know I have another blog Daily Living With Bad Credit. This blog is for people that for whatever reason have bad credit. Many times this is the result of a divorce or medical expenses due to unexpected medical expenses. I started the blog to help people cope with bad credit and to give them information on how to still go about getting credit. I also give advice on how to work with and around bad credit. There was a time when my credit had taken a ding, due to a divorce, and I know how hard it was for a while.

People with poor credit often find it difficult to be approved for a regular credit card. If you have a low credit score, limited credit history, or are looking to get your credit back on track, there is a card for you. It usually takes seven years to remove the bad credit card marks on your credit history, but you can start replacing your bad debt credit card history with good history today.

CreditNet is a provider of credit card resources, applications, company reviews, and more. They are the premier credit card resource site for information and services for credit repair, exclusive card offers from selected providers, company reviews, live chat and more. Stimulus Package Could Help With Debt

The possibility of a large economic stimulus package has been all over the news today. The President is proposing an $800 dollar refund for a single person and $1600 for a married couple. This would be a huge boost with the economy if combined with small business tax cuts and some other tax cuts. The prospects of some type of refund are looking pretty good at this time given the slide in the economy and the fact that it is an election year. If you have credit card debt using the refund to reduce your debt could have a twofold impact. One would be the obvious reduction in debt the other being the increase in monthly cash flow by the reduction in payments.

With tax refunds coming up and the very good possibility of an additional rebate check coming int the mail now is the time to start considering eliminating your debt. The Credit Exchange Corporation is the only company of its kind in existence. They are not a debt management company. They provide debt referral services for customers seeking help with debt consolidation and debt management, and who are looking to improve their financial condition. They offer all forms of financial services such as Financial Analysis, complete Credit Counseling and Debt Counseling, and Debt Settlement through an affiliate network of debt consolidation and debt management companies.

$1500 January Update - MTD: $770.58

In case you missed it I have set a goal for this blog to earn $1500 in January. When I set this goal it was on January 15th and I had earned a total of $606.33 so far for the month. As you can see I had not yet earned half of my goal yet the month was already half over. I am determined to meet this goal and I wanted to keep everyone updated as to my progress.

I will only give totals through yesterday as I am not done earning yet today! The totals will be through the end of the day Thursday. Without further ado...

Here is where the earnings stand for the month.

Affiliate Sales: $491.05
Paid Posting: $232.14
Contextual Ads: $34.61
Ad/Link Sales: $10.00
Misc: $2.78

Total MTD: $770.58

That is an average of a little over $45 per day so far this month. If I maintained that rate I would fall just a bit short of my goal. Although if you look at the earnings for the 16-17th after I set my goal and started my push the average jumps up to about $82 per day. Counting today the 18th there are 14 days left in the month. I will need to average just a touch over $52 per day to reach my goal.

Save Some Money This Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is just a few weeks away! You can save a ton of money by purchasing that gift for your lady online. I know that for me since I do so much of my shopping online I am always looking for online shopping coupons. Between affiliate links and coupon codes I can really save a bundle whenever I am doing any shopping online.

I know if I could I would buy my lady a huge rock for Valentine's day. I will honestly though stick to something a bit smaller and more reasonably priced. I also love to get my daughter a Valentine's day present. It always makes her feel special, which of course she is. Those are pretty much it for people I get Valentine's presents for. Well, I do get my son a little something so he doesn't feel left out.

Two of my favorite online retailers when I am looking for a gift for my girlfriend are Blue Nile and Jewelry Web. They both have great selections and prices on jewelry and other gifts for that special someone. So before you spend way more money that you should and all that time driving and shopping sit down at your computer relax a bit and shop online. You have to hurry though to make sure whatever it is that you order makes it here before Valentine's Day.

Read Faster, Blog Faster, Make More Money

Way back during my freshman year of college I ordered a speed reading course after seeing the infomercial what seemed like a gazillion times. Now I had always been a very fast reader but I was pretty much at the top of where sub-vocal reading can take you. I was excited when the course came and really wanted to get started. I figured it could only help my schoolwork. I opened the package and took out the all the books and cassette tapes. I started reading the first lesson and listening to the tapes. After the first several lessons and tapes I lost interest and just never really returned to trying the program. Quite a few years later I came across another program, again one I had seen advertised on TV. I also saw a demo at a mall. I tried the product out and figured I would like it better than the previous program I tried. It was also a very different style of program. After getting the program and doing the lessons and practicing I have to admit my reading speed almost doubled. Since then I still go back and practice the lessons on occasion. The increased reading speed has been an immense help both in my personal and professional life.

Would you like to increase your reading speed by 2 times . . . 5 times . . . or even 10 TIMES? And all the while gaining better comprehension? You CAN accomplish this and MORE with the Infinite Mind Eye-Q Reading Enhancement Program! This program is excellent for all those who read from children age 8 to teens and even adults! It is recommended that you use the program every other day for the first 3 weeks, and then every day thereafter – practice is the key!

Get Cash For Your Small Business

Do you have a small business? Do you take Visa and Mastercard? Are you in need of short term capital to finance a business expense?

How & Why To Put Links In Your Blogger Post Title

How To Put Links In Your Blogger Post Title

Well this will be short and sweet because the process is extremely simple. You simply put a link in the title. You use the html link format. Here is an example using the title of this article.

That is exactly what you would put in your title field for your post. What you would end up with when you publish the post would look like this.

How & Why To Put Links In Your Blogger Post Title

The only difference would be that the words you don't have the link to would still link to the articles permanent URL. So you would have a title where part of it links to the articles permanent URL the other part you defined when you entered the title would link to the URL you chose.

Why Put Links In Your Blogger Post Title

Now the question is why would you do this? Now I wouldn't do this for every title but it can be an effective SEO tool and also good from an affiliate marketing perspective. Remember your article titles on your main page are H2 tagged, and should be H1 on your post permalink page, but I will go into how to make your post title an H1 tag on it's permalink page in another article. Google and most other search engines put great emphasis on the H1 tag as pretty much the most important part of the page. That is why placing a relevant properly key worded link in your post title can really help what you are linking to in search ranking. Think of this as more of an internal linking strategy than an external one. In other words say you have an article on basket weaving and you happen to mention basket or weaving in another post title. You could link from basket or weaving or both to the article you are wanting to boost.

Another internal link SEO strategy is to actually publish the article and then go back and insert a link back to the article using the most important keyword from the title. In this strategy all of the words in the title would then still link back to the article, but you would in effect have two links to the same article in the same title. That is actually how this articles title is set up.

I Get So Busy Making Money Online I Forget To Wash My Hair

I don't know about you but I am extremely busy between my "real" job, my online work, and many other business ventures. Not only that I am extremely forgetful. I also love sports. Now you are asking what do those three things have in common. Well let me explain. As I am so busy I often times use my lunch hour to get in some sports activity, basketball, volleyball, or gym, and obviously afterwards I need a shower before returning to work. I don't think showing up at an after lunch meeting smelling of BO would be a good idea. Now here is where the forgetfulness part comes into play. I usually keep shampoo in my locker at work, but when I head out to the gym I will take a shower their to save time when I return and there have been countless times I forget my shampoo.

For those reasons I have started keeping an "emergency" backup in the glove box. I used to actually keep a small travel bottle of regular shampoo. Then I learned about a dry shampoo product from my girlfriend. Salon Grafix makes a great color matched dry shampoo that is wonderful for those time when I forget my regular shampoo or just between normal washing to keep your hair oil free and manageable. If you are a busy online and offline entrepreneur like me you should check out this product.

Great Coffee Deal From Boca Java, Rush Limbaugh's Favorite Coffee

Boca Java - Rush Limbaugh loves it and so do I

I have talked about Boca Java quite a few times on this blog. Not only is it my favorite coffee, but it has been one of my best affiliate marketing campaigns. The coffee is roasted to order and the aroma when you first receive the box at your home is amazing. Their flavor Bananas Fosters Float is my favorite coffee ever. I even wrote an article on touching a bit on buzz marketing with Boca Java coffee titled Boca Java, Rush Limbaugh And Affiliate Marketing.

Boca Java's Great coffee deal!!

I just got an email about Boca Java's newest deal. It really is a great deal. Not only do you get what I consider the best coffee you get 3 free gifts as well. You get 4 bags of great tasting fresh roasted gourmet coffee and the 3 gifts for only $19.95! That is a great deal but for all of you affiliate marketers out there it gets even better.

Affiliate marketing campaigns with Rush Limbaugh & Boca Java

I have several affiliate networks that I use and there are two that offer campaigns from Boca Java coffee. NeverBlueAds is the network offering this great deal I am talking about here. Commission Junction though just announced double commissions for this weekend on Boca Java as well as some great featured offers not found on NeverBlueAds. I still prefer NeverBlueAds Boca Java campaign due to the high payout of over $26 per sale. Even with the CJ double commission offer many sales wouldn't pay out that much. If you are looking for a great affiliate marketing opportunity head over to NeverBlueAds, sign up, and search through their great selection of campaigns.

Promotional Products To Advertise Your Blog

I have talked a bit about offline advertising for you blog, but today I want to talk about a tool that can be used both offline and on. Promotional items are a proven, effective way to market your blog or website, company, school, service or event. Think of the sites that sell or give away promotional products. You can buy all kinds of Shoemoney merchandise, you can buy a shirt with your Alexa ranking, and there are hundreds of other sites out there that sell or give away promotional products.

You can get your site logo imprinted on all types of promotional items from apparel, to pens, magnets, mouse pads, bags, cups, Promotional Calendars , and much more! Gimmees.com is a site that I have used to order some pens to give to friends, family, and to pass out to folks that ask me what I do. Gimmees.com features high quality, custom imprinted items at very affordable prices. I got some pens they had on sale for $.23 a piece with no setup fee. This is a great price and items like this can be a great tool for offline advertising. You can order larger items and give-aways for your blog or other business that you own.

IZEA Realrank Is Now Live

For those of you familiar with PayPerPost you have known about RealRank for quite some time. For those of you that aren't RealRank is a new Blog ranking system from Izea the site - IzeaRank.com. I got the email today letting me know the site was live. I stopped by registered my blog and checked everything out. Understand this is a ranking system for blogs and nothing else. In fact they allow users to flag sights that aren't blogs. The downside I see right away is the opt-in facet of the system. There will be sights that choose not to participate because of it's association on some level with PayPerPost, or some other reason.

RealRank according to the site is a "blog ranking system that uses real data to calculate which blogs are getting the most traffic and have the most influence on the web. IZEARanks ranks the top blogs in the blogosphere via actual site statistics, not an extrapolation of estimates." There is a very nice graphical chart somewhat remeniscent of Alexa's comparison graphs. You can chart and compare multiple blogs based on RealRank, pageviews, and unique visitors. One nice thing is that a blogger can choose whether or not they want their stats public or private. This doesn't apply to the actual RealRank only to the pageviews and unique vistors stats. I think this will help attract some bloggers that are looking for a bit more privacy.

With the relative ease of gaming Alexa and all the Google PR crap of late it will be nice to see a blog ranking system that actually means something and that is actually based on traffic and visitors and not like PR that Google can just decide to change on a whim because they happen to decide paid links are a bad thing.

I would love to see RealRank rise to the top of blog ranking and really take out Google PR, Alexa, and Technorati. The only way this is going to happen though is for bloggers like you and me to use the RealRank system. I encourage all of my readers to head over to IzeaRanks.com and register your blog today.

Bad Credit Isn't A Barrier To Making Money Online

You can make money online even if you have horrible credit. PayPerPost doesn't run a credit check. Google doesn't run a credit check. Commission Junction doesn't run a credit check. Bad credit can cost you more in interest and make things inconvenient, it can't stop you from making money online. You can start a free blog and begin to monetize it almost immediately. After you begin to build traffic and content and the blog matures you can move into paid posting and ad sales to make even more money. You can use affiliate programs and PPC advertising or just place the links on you sight as way to further increase your income. You can do all this and your credit doesn't matter.

There was a period in my life where I had less than perfect credit. I know for me it really really sucked. I have been able to improve it over time, but during that time it was very difficult at times to do things many people take for granted. Things like buying a car, getting a cell phone, heck even employers are checking credit nowadays. Because of my past struggles I actually have another blog devoted to helping people with bad credit in their daily lives. The blog is Daily Living With Bad Credit. I have information on there about how to purchase computers and other electronics with no interest even for people with bad credit. How to obtain decent financing on auto loans. Even a place where you can buy jewelry.

With the number of "bad credit" consumers in the U.S. growing by the day, there are great resources to help these consumers get back on their feet financially. Another site, other than mine, that I reference quite often is BadCreditOffers.com. The feature bad credit loans, credit cards, and other resources for people with bad credit. They even have an area for personal loans for people with bad credit. The site allows visitors to compare dozens of bad credit offers from major providers and find the best offer to fit their needs.

This Is What A Cman Looks Like, Or At Least This One

I have been meaning to put up a picture for the longest time and for various reasons just never got too it. I probably share an issue with quite a few people out there that aren't real crazy about pictures of themselves. I don't mind people taking pictures I just don't go out of my way to appear in them. One reason, or excuse you could say, that it took so long is that I really didn't have a ton of pictures in digital format that were "good." Finally after some prodding I decided to just take a snapshot with the webcam and throw it up here. So last night that is what I did. Here is the result. Not much but it is a picture and it is up for all to see.

Aren't you all just so excited that you know what I look like? Funny thing is that I actually did send a picture to a fellow blogger months ago, but that person was gracious enough to not post it. It was a pretty poor picture by design actually, and a full body shot so you couldn't really see much of my face due to the small size. So there is one fellow blogger out there that sorta knew what I looked like for quite a while. You know who you are. Now all of you get a picture. Does this feel as anticlimactic to you as it does to me?

NetAudioAds Pay-Per-Play Advertising Affiliate Program

NetAudioAds Pay-Per-Play advertising is an Audio-only advertising channel backed by one of the BIG 5 search engines. The System works on a bid management system similar to Google AdWords and will compensate publishers just like Google AdSense but with one critical difference. As a publisher you will earn revenue on 100% of their traffic... no clicks necessary! You will earn this percentage on 100% of your website traffic that lands on a web page where you have inserted the PPP code. Compare this to only getting a few clicks from google or yahoo and you can see the potential.

The System is a way for advertisers (Like Harley Davidson or Taco Bell) to serve a 5 second audio advertisement to website visitors. It is a way for advertisers to target their 5 second audio ad to specific interests, demographics and geographic locations.

Net Audio Ads is not new, it has been running for 2 1/2 years, has over 66,000 advertisers and over 550,000 websites responsible for up to 43 million impressions of advertisers' 5 second audio ads on a monthly basis. Their partnership with a major search engine will allow NetAudioAds to increase their audio ad impressions from mere millions to billions on a monthly basis.

They are also offering a great affiliate program. It is only for a limited time though. After February 1, 2008, the program converts to a "Host Only" model, meaning you will only make revenue from the ads placed on your own site. The affiliate programs pays weekly and pays on 3 tiers. This is a great opportunity you should not pass up. If you really want to maximize your earnings with NetAudioAds you really need to head over and sign up now before the affiliate program is gone.

A Valentine's Day Affiliate Marketing Bidz War

I just wanted to talk about the differences in campaigns for the same advertiser, and why you may or may not use each one or the other. I am going to examine 3 different types of campaigns. The advertiser I am going to use today is Bidz.com. I picked them because I have multiple partners that offer campaigns and we do have Valentine's Day on the way. If you haven't read my articles on the Benefits of Multiple Affiliate Campaign Partners you should take a minute to check it out and then read this article.

Bidz.com Short Form Conversion
Action: Converts on 1st Page info submit
Payout: $6.00 / lead

This campaign pays out without a purchase which can be a plus. The only thing required on this is for a person to sign up for a Bidz.com account. The payout though is only $6.00 per sign up. This wouldn't be bad for PPC campaign as in my experience you will get a much higher conversion on sign up than on actual sale. If you find you are getting a ton of clicks but no sales you would probably want to switch over to this campaign and probably see your commissions improve.

Bidz.com CPS % Campaign
Action: Converts on User Purchase after Registration has taken place
Payout: 16% Per Sale
Action Referral Period: 30 day(s)

This campaign pays a percentage, 16%, of each sale. Once an individual signs up and actually makes a purchase within 30 days of registration you get paid. The drawback on this is that honestly a 30 period isn't the greatest as many offer 45 and as high as 90. Another is that there actually has to be a sale. As I said you will get a higher conversion of sign ups than actual sales, and if the affiliate has a small to medium average sale the percentage may not be that much. My experience with Bidz.com is that between this and the first option you will almost always come out ahead with the fixed $6.00 per sign up. The average sales just aren't high enough to make up the difference in conversion between the sign ups and sales.

Bidz.com Fixed CPS Campaign
Action: Converts on User Purchase after Registration has taken place
Payout: $30.00 Per Sale
Action Referral Period: 30 day(s)

This campaign pays a fixed $30 per sale. Once an individual signs up and actually makes a purchase within 30 days of registration you get paid. The drawback on this is the same 30 period and of course the necessity of the sale. Again you will get a higher conversion of sign ups than actual sales. The advantage of this campaign over the previous two is the high payout. You would need 5 conversions on option 1 and a $187.50 sale on the 2nd campaign to equal the payout on this one. The average sale on Bidz.com isn't close to $187.50. This option for me and how I market the best option.

The reason I showed you all three is that payout terms can vary greatly amongst Affiliate Networks and you can once again see the Benefits Of Having Multiple Affiliate Networks. It does depend somewhat on your marketing strategy and style. If you do email, paid search, or organic search this will have an impact on conversion. It is all about having options and finding what works for what you do.
