And The C Stands 4.......

Well 3:30 PM CST has come and gone and Ted Kosmatka, a great author friend of mine, has opened the envelope and the answer to the great question What the F Does the C Stand 4 been revealed. Just to let everyone know in case you missed the comment thread and especially for Lori ;) the answer was not Horse Wormer.

I am reviewing all the answers to make sure that all legit entries are taken into account and none are missed. The winner or winners will be notified and a winning post in which the mystery answer will be revealed will be up tomorrow. If I find that no one has guessed correctly then as stated a winner of the "consolation" prize will be randomly picked from all entries.

I want to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who participated and stay tuned for the September Contest starting after the holiday on tuesday.

Steer Clear of A-List Bloggers - They Could Be Full Of Sh...

No bad pun intended really :). Well the shadowy John Cow has an article A-Listers Found Guilty Of Stealing where he talks about what he feels is a disparity in time spent by bloggers reading the a-listers and whether or not it is worth that time. Here is what Mr. Cow had to say.
We hardly ever read Problogger, Shoemoney and have never even seen Seth Godin’s blog…well we did just now actually because we had to find his link.

Quality Vs. Quantity

I have to admit I don't visit those blogs nearly as much as I used to. I check the feeds of around 200 blogs and do searches for topics instead of spending my time browsing around a single blog. I try to stretch out a bit and read new blogs and find new sources of information and inspiration.
Your post[sic] might have taken you hours to compile and will get you ~50 readers while they post a stupid YouTube video on a lazy day and get over ~5000 readers. - John Cow
I know I have felt this way. Now I can't say that ProBlogger posts crap because that wouldn't be true, but some of the other a-listers do post quite a bit of "fluff." I guess I can't be too critical I post what you could call "fluff" sometimes too probably. I left you all with a few of my feelings on this subject when I talked about Contests Are Full of Sh-T. I think that some of the a-listers have taken their readers for granted to a certain extent. I feel that sometimes they get complacent and figure that the readers will keep reading simply because they are who they are. This leads to periods of tons of guest articles, fluff "what I ate for dinner" crap articles, the afore mentioned sh-tty contests :), and an overall drop in blog quality. Usually though they realize the error of their ways and return to their better ways. There is an article I recently read at a "new to me" blog Angel of World of Angel wrote a post asking the question Has Shoemoney lost the plot? The point of the article is what I am making here that many a-listers go through periods where they simply don't produce good stuff.

Work time Vs. Play Time

Yours, and my, focus should be on the quality of our articles. Keep posting quality content, working hard at marketing and networking, practicing good blogging and you will find your efforts rewarded.
That’s something you can’t do if you’re looking for the answer on other people’s blogs all the time! Try to set a 80% work and 20% play limit in place. - John Cow

I agree with this percentage breakdown to a point. Here is how I would probably break it down. Let me know your practice or what you would recommend to a new blogger.
  1. I would recommend closer to 90/10 for about the first month. This is so that you can build up a foundation of quality content before you start your marketing and networking push.
  2. After that I would drop to the 80/20 for about another month. Put a little more emphasis on building relationships and networking with other bloggers, while still placing the most focus on quality content.
  3. Now that you have a good foundation of content the percentage would be closer to 60/40 for a while say 2-3 months. Still having more emphasis on quality content, but really starting to push your marketing efforts and spending more time networking with other bloggers and your blog readers.
  4. You should by now have a pretty good foundation of content, a feel for blogging, a good network in the blogging community, and a decent size and growing readership. This is the time to once again take the percentage to 80/20. Now keep the focus on your blog content and on your readers, with less time spent on reading other blogs, networking and marketing.
Well those are my feelings on the subject. Do you agree or disagree? How do you break down your time spent online? Do you spend more time playing and less time working?

Sh-tty Contests, Revenge!, With No Stripping This Time!

Well it is that time again. Here is another of my "shotgun" posts. There is no stripping this time :(. This is just a personal preference but I don't like posting multiple posts to enter every contest. I like to consolidate and try and be a little more productive in my use of space. Well on to the reason I'm typing.

Many of you may have read my post And Bloggrrl said I was flush.... where I talked about entering a contest by one As(s)hwin Khanna in which the winner would win $2500. Now I was extremely skeptical from the beginning but figured what the heck. Well as suspected it was a huge load of crap. You can read some of the details over at Contest Blogger. Well Contest Blogger is now running an Ashwin Khanna Revenge Contest. The only entry requirements are that you entered As(s)hwin's contest and that you change your original link to his site over to Contest Blogger. Well I'm entered, and have changed my link to As(s)wipe, sorry As(s)hwin, dang I'll get it right Ashwin's blog to point over to Contest Blogger. Well since I'm on the subject, and I'm certainly not one to pass up a backlink opportunity, I am just one of many many blogs around the blogosphere that are letting folks know that Ashwin is full of crap. Suffice to say his blogging career has certainly been derailed, hopefully permanently. How is that for productive. I entered a contest, got a backlink, and took a swipe at As(s)hwin all in one paragraph. :)

I also want to mention a blogger by the name of Ryan Shamus. He has started a project called Blogging’s Most Wanted. It is $15 a block for you to advertise with a refund of $5 just for linking back to his site which means you are really only paying $10 for, as his terms state,"a pixel advertisement on the main page lasting at least 5 years." Not a bad deal at all in my opinion. Also once all 625 ‘blocks’ are sold he is going to give one winner $1000 cash, and another $750 cash. Overall not a bad deal, but I better get my $5 refund :).

One last thing and then I think I'm done. Darrin Carter over at Search Engine Marketing, a blog about Internet Marketing, Search Engine Marketing, SEO and Advertising, is giving away a Free PlayStation 3. This contest is courtesy of Darin and his his co-sponsor IAWMD - The International Association of WebMasters and Designers. Head on over, check out his blog, and enter the contest if you wish. Even if you don't enter the contest you will find a lot of great content. Well that is it for now folks.

To Thine Own Self Be True - Transform Your Blog By Changing Yourself - Part 2

You have a choice. Would you rather grind away at a blog that no one is reading, or have a blog read by thousands and earning you a nice income?
excerpt from Transform Your Blog By Changing Yourself - Part 1 - Practice

"To thine own self be true…"

Most of us are familiar with the above quote from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, but how many of us know the rest of the line? “And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou can not then be false to any man.” Unless you are fist true to yourself, you cannot be true to others. You have to be yourself and be honest with yourself about who you are and what you are. You can't be all things to all people. You can't please all the people all the time. We've heard the cliches but they are true. There are so many people that are miserable because they are living their life trying to be something they are not. Trying desperately to hold together the pieces of the simulacrum they have built of themselves.

To me living your life for other people, trying to be what other people want you to be, and creating a facade is the ultimate selfishness. Let me explain. When you are constantly spinning your life to fit some vague reflection of your true self you aren't being true with others. In a sense, in living your life for others, in trying so hard to please others, you are practicing the ultimate in selfishness. You are never letting people see the true you - only exposing the parts you want people to see and masking the ones you don't. You can never really love or be loved unless you first are honest with yourself and who and what you are.

Be yourself. Be honest with yourself about who and what you are - your nature. The more you practice this you will find more contentment, more happiness, more love and certainly more peace. Gnothi Seauton - "know thyself." Know and be known.

To thine own Blog be true…

Your blog can't be all things to all people. You need to blog who you are. What are you passionate about? Answer that and then blog it. Your blog, in a manner of speaking, is an extension of self. If you are not being true to yourself you won't be or ring true with your readers. Your blog can't fill all niches. Your blog can't be all things to all readers. If your blog is about making money, stick with it. If your blog is of a more personal nature, write with passion again stemming from what you love and are passionate about.

I have read many blogs where there seemed to be no focus to the content. One day the articles would be about making money, the next about a movie. Honestly I don't read blogs like this much, if at all. I like blogs that stick to their niche, and I feel the large percentage of readers do also. There are a few blogs that have been successfull with diverse topics they are, in my opinion, the exception to the rule. I highly recommend to those of you looking to make money that you pick your niche wisely, create a wealth of content related to that niche, and always stay true if you want to be successful in Blogging.

Do you agree or disagree? What is your opinion on blog niches? Are you being true to yourself? How about to your blog?

Internal Links, Anchor Text, SEO, & Reader Loyalty

Internal page links are an area over which you have complete control yet many people don't pay enough attention to them. You have the greatest control over links from within your own web site so take advantage of that control. Sometimes it is hard to control how others link to you, but you can always do a good job of providing great links to yourself using internal site linking.

Here are some rules to follow when creating your Internal Page Links.

Make sure that the anchor text for you link is relevant to your target page

Whenever it is possible use words similar to those expressed in the title of the target article or page you are linking to. Make sure the anchor text is relevant and that the link title and the title of the article, post or page match the main keywords of the target page. Having a few of those ubiquitous "click here" links scattered around might make you look a bit more natural, but for the most part your links should describe what is on the other end of the link. For example if I wanted to link to one of my previous posts about Transforming Your Blog By Changing Yourself I could type in a link that looks like this.

Read my post Practice - Transforming Your Blog By Changing Yourself - Part 1 here.

It would be more profitable and productive however to use the title of
the post which includes good keywords as the anchor text for the link. Here is
the way it should be done.

Read my post Practice - Transforming Your Blog By Changing Yourself - Part 1.
This type of linking has a large impact on how you will rank for keywords. The more you link internally using specific keywords and to relevant content the higher you will rank for those keywords.

Use the title tag and use the main keywords from the target page

The title tag in a link is not as important as the anchor text, but many search engines still place quite a bit of weight on it. You can also make up a bit for a not-so-hot anchor text with good title keywords.

Example:
<a href="http://cmansmoneypages.blogspot.com/"
title="Cman's Money Page - Profitable Productive Blogging - Make Money Online With Cman"> Cman's Money Page - Profitable Productive Blogging</a>
Internal linking when done right will not only boost your standing for your keywords but also will encourage people to continue reading other content on your site. When posting on a topic that you have posted on in the past you should always include link(s) back to your previous posts. When people start clicking links on your site they move from being simple readers to being actively engaged in your sites content.

Dance The Success 2 Step with La Cense

La Cense Beef

Step 1 - First Hand Product Review

La Cense Beef has been one of my most successful affiliate program MTD for August. I ran two ads with different keywords and had great success. As with all of my most successful affiliate marketing programs, pay attention this is a key to success, I ordered the product and tried it out. I don't want to just put some ads and links out there about something I have not tried myself. Well, I must report that La Cense steaks are on par with some of the best steaks I have ever had. Grass fed beef tends to be leaner than grain fed and so cooking time becomes a bit more critical. I have to admit the first steak I cooked I overdid it a bit. Hey I was watching the Cubs game :). Well after this first trial and error the results were wonderful. The taste of the steaks and burgers had a very deep and hearty beef flavor. Well I'm no food critic, by any stretch, but I do love gourmet foods and have tried many many steaks. I have to say that these steaks are the best steaks I have ever had delivered. I highly recommend them.

La Cense Beef

Step 2 - Ride The Buzz Wave With La Cense Beef

For some of you who have known me for a while you know that I have been pretty successful online using affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is my #1 income stream online. This blog is catching up though much to my delight. One of my keys to affiliate marketing is to ride the buzz a product is already generating to affiliate success. I wrote an article a while back called Boca Java, Rush Limbaugh And Affiliate Marketing detailing a bit my buzz strategy to make money in affiliate marketing. La Cense Beef has been generating considerable buzz as of late. It is all over the place. It has gotten rave reviews, by Better Homes & Gardens, Bon Appetit, The New York Times, Saveur Magazine, and even got a mention by Elizabeth Hasselbeck on The View. Heck it is even being talked about on youtube.

Taking advantage of opportunities like this can be very beneficial for you as a blogger and affiliate marketer. Utilizing your advertising space and keyword ads to market hot products and taking advantage of buzz that is being generated elsewhere is great way to boost earnings. Be prepared to take advantage of opportunities like this to maximize your affiliate marketing income.

That is it. Trying out products and taking advantage of buzz. Two of my key strategies to making money through affiliate marketing. What are some of your affiliate marketing successes or strategies? Have you had a successful campaign? What did you do to make it that way? Let the discussion begin!

Transform Your Blog By Changing Yourself - Part 1 - Practice

You have a choice. Would you rather grind away at a blog that no one is reading, or have a blog read by thousands and earning you a nice income? Be honest, winning is more fun. Success is better than failure. You can't change other blogs. You can't change other bloggers in your niche, but you can change your yourself and you can change your blog. You start with yourself. You cannot blame your lack of success on the big bad blog. You can't blame others for your shortcomings. If you want a high performing blog you can ill afford to simply be an ordinary blogger there are hundreds of those to go around. This article is the first in a series about transforming your blog by changing yourself into a better blogger.

Be Better - Practice

To be really good, heck even moderately good, at anything in life it takes practice. Lots and Lots of practice. Want to be a better speaker, better writer, better golfer, better whatever it may be? Practice. We have all heard the saying "practice makes perfect" or the slightly modified version "perfect practice makes perfect performance." Those are so true. Is there something you would like to be able to do well? You must practice. This holds true throughout life. Raw ability oft times will be trumped by superior effort. How many times have you seen a talented team get beat by one with less talent but more hustle, more desire. Just because you are good at something doesn't mean you don't have to practice. It doesn't mean you don't have to put in the time it takes to improve. Not good at something? Practice until you are. Are you already good? You can be better. Practice until you are. If you will incorporate a philosophy of practice, continuous improvement, into our life you can change yourself and your blog.

Blogging, for most, isn't something they have an innate talent for. Being a successful blogger takes practice. Do you want to be a better blogger? Better writer? Better Marketer? Better Designer? You may not be the best writer around the blogosphere, but that is okay you can get better through practice. Do you want to write with passion? Practice. Writing with passion can only come from passion. You can't write passionately unless you are writing about something you are passionate about. Write articles and then have a friend read them. Read them over yourself several times and make changes. Encourage interaction and critique from fellow bloggers on your writing style. You don't have to be a great writer to be a successful blogger, but you do have to be a good writer. Remember, effort in most cases can trump ability. Don't stop trying to improve. This blog has evolved and improved over time as I have learned new things and tried new things. I am constantly writing and re-writing articles and having a friend read them over. I practice blogging. I am certainly not the best writer, but I know that I have improved since the start of this blog. I, You can be better.

Use analytical tools so that you have some quantitative feedback on your efforts. Don't know tons about ad placement. Try, practice, different ad placements, color schemes, etc. to see what works best. Practice. Not good at writing ad copy? Practice. Try different styles, different keywords, different phrases, etc. Practice marketing, practice writing, practice, practice, practice blogging. You can be a better blogger it only takes a bit of practice.

Do you have examples from your own life, your blog, where practice has brought about improvement? Share your stories of success. Share your firsthand knowledge of the benefits of practice. Lets all strive together to be better people and better bloggers.

Contests, Stripping, & Happy Women

This is just another of those shotgun posts as I wanted to send some thanks and link love to some fellow bloggers and friends. Enjoy and check out the sites below.

First I just wanted to send a quick THANKS to Phil over at ContestBlogger for posting about and including my contest. He has created a wonderful "clearinghouse" type site for blog contests. If you are looking to enter contests and win some free stuff his blog is the place to go. Before you head on over to ContestBlogger don't forget to enter my contest What the F Does the C Stand 4 - Win $100.

Second, I experienced a first last night. I earned my first $1 stripping! Well sorta. It's a long story. Read the comment train of my article And Bloggrrl said I was flush... for a little background. And people say blogging is boring. I am going to have to ask Bloggrrl if this gives me any advantage whatsoever in her Online Strip Poker contest.

Now head on over to A Cowboy's Wife and check out her post on Keeping Your Woman Happy. A while back she wrote a post about Keeping Your Man Happy and I mentioned at that time she should pen the companion post about women. She was so gracious and honored my request. Check out her very entertaining blog. Where else can you read about chopping off a horses balls, buying horse wormer, spending 45 in a WalMart checkout, and see beautiful pictures all in one place! Not only that she has some great posts on blogging. All-in-all she is running a great blog.

Well thanks for reading.

Accumulating Wealth Is A Lifestyle - Part 1 - Capture Savings Instantly

The large percentage of "wealthy" people were not born with it, did not happen into wealth through blind luck, are not actors or athletes, and did not get rich quick. A majority accumulated wealth through entrepreneurship - Starting a business, working smarter, working harder, and living in such a way that captured wealth like iron-filings to a magnet. I have always tried to associate with these type of successful people, to surround myself with friends and acquaintances more successful than myself. I have attempted to learn their "secrets", to pick their brains, and model their success. I learned that as the title of this article states - Accumulating wealth is a lifestyle. I decided to publish a series of articles giving you some practical everyday tips I have learned on what you can do easily and on pretty much a daily basis to integrate wealth accumulation into the fabric of your life.

I am constantly looking for ways to cut expenses, increase revenue, stop budget leaks and squeeze more money from my budget for saving and investing. I wanted to share with you some of my ideas and actions that I do to make money and accumulate wealth both online and off. Most of these things aren't hard to do and are very easy to incorporate into most individuals lives in some manner. None of these tips will allow you to "get rich quick." I have found that if you are looking for that "get rich quick" idea you will probably be very disappointed.

Capture Savings Instantly

I would have to say that my #1 recommendation and the all important first step is to have a plan and means to capture savings. Passing on a burger but spending the money on a candy bar later isn't saving money. You have to be able to capture the savings, little and big, cents and dollars, for them to do you good. My point is that it really does no good not spending the money on one thing if you simply spend it elsewhere later in the day, week, or in another budget category.

What do I mean by this? Let me give you a personal example of something that I started many many years ago and still do to this day. Let's say I'm driving down the road and for whatever reason I am feeling hungry, craving an ice cream, or could really use a coffee. There is nothing wrong with any of those mind you and I'm sure purchasing any of those wouldn't break the bank. Say though, that I decide that instead of consuming the extra calories and spending the extra money I will simply pass and continue on doing whatever it is I am doing. I just saved the $2 - $5 by not spending it, but it will do me no good if later in the evening I give in and buy the coffee, or even if I don't buy anything but simply have no means to capture that savings. Here is my solution to the problem and something I practice on a daily basis. When I make the decision to pass on the burger, or whatever, that I could have bought, I will, usually within minutes, transfer the money from my checking into another savings/investment account.

Transferring money is extremely easy these days. I do it simply and easily via my mobile phone using Paypal or via my banks iphone app. I also have my phone teller # on speed dial. When I save money I capture it almost instantly by transferring the money out of my main account and into a savings vehicle of some sort. As soon as I make a decision to not spend money pretty much wherever and whenever you will see me texting, calling or surfing to capture that savings.

It costs me nothing to transfer money from my main checking account to an online high yield savings or money market and from there to other investments. My accounts through ING earn great returns with no minimum balance either place. You don't need to have large amounts to open these accounts and start earning more on your captured savings. In fact if you are interested I can show you how to earn a quick 10% return on your initial investment with quite a few online banks. Just contact me with your email address and I can send the information to you.

You see accumulating wealth really is a lifestyle. This little "trick", if you want to call it that, helps me capture almost $2000 a year in savings that in turn earn me more money. Pass on 2 coffees a week that's $10. Do that every week and actually capture the savings, that adds up to $520 a year. Do you see how quickly this adds up? Take left-overs for lunch, while it isn't glamorous it works, 2 days a week and pass on the fast-food, that's $8 - $10. Once again these small amounts added up weekly, earning interest and compounding, over time can equal true wealth. You may ask why I am put such an emphasis on squeezing as much money as possible out of the expense side and into the investment side. Well it is because I am saving for m My Home In Belize And My New Porsche!

Well I hope this has been encouraging and helpful to all of you. Remember not spending money is not the same as SAVING money! Do you have anything like this that you practice in your daily life? Have any questions or comments? Please let me know.

Disheartened By Carping Criticism I Feel The Need to Elucidate

Paragraph 1
Okay no offense to most of you reading this, and only a bit to those of you who I am directing this toward, but some of you need to read more of my blog. I have a sarcastic ironic and satirical sense of humor that you might pick up on. Really, try reading some other articles and maybe, just maybe, this profundity will not be lost on you. I have a contest running where people are to guess What the F Does the C Stand 4. Now I personally didn't feel there was anything overly confusing and I certainly don't want to dampen the inquisitive spirit of you my readers, but HUH? Here are the rules as stated in the contest post.

Rules:
1. To enter you will need to write a post linking back to and mentioning this contest and your guess.

2. Leave a comment to this post that includes the url of your entry post.

3. One entry per person but if you really really feel the urge to guess more than once, feel free to write multiple posts (limit 5), each containing a different guess and each linking to a different article on this site. Each additional post other than your
first one must be at least 1000 words and full of nothing but praise or, if you are of a sarcastic bent, platitudes for this site.

4. All entries must be received by Update: I have extended the contest until 3:30 P.M Central Time on August 31st. Any entries after this deadline could however receive special recognition in a random conversation with a passerby.

5. If for some odd reason you would like to enter without posting please Donate $20 and put your entry in the item field.

6. The prize will be awarded via paypal only. If you do not have paypal then for $197 $99 $49 2 Easy Monthly Payments of $14.99 the reduced low low price of FREE, I have this ebook for sale that will explain in detail how to open a Paypal account. Actually that is simply a link to the Paypal sign-up page.

Paragraph 2
I received an e-mail from a reader complaining about #6 and saying that there wasn't an ebook and that it was only a link to paypal. At first I thought it was a joke. Then I read a bit more and realized that they were serious and I was being chastised for being disingenuous. I also received several other emails lamenting the difficulty of #3. To deal with the vexing issue of the first complaint I have added a short explanation to the end of #6. To address the difficulty a few of you are having with #3 see paragraph 1 sentence 2. If you still don't get it you obviously don't and won't get the point so let it go. Just quit. You have other issues that can't be addressed in the short amount of time we have here.

Paragraph 3
Having been really disheartened by the carping criticism I therefore felt the need to elucidate a bit on the nature of my humor. For those of you with ADD or ADHD reference sentence 2 paragraph 1 for a truncated explanation. For those of with slightly longer attention spans you can reference sentences 1 and 3 of paragraph 1 and work from there. Now to address you who are still reading. Enter the contest, if you haven't already, and finish reading as there really isn't that much more anyway.

Paragraph 4
Dang! Now I just know I'm going to be getting emails about which paragraph is which. So as to avoid confusion I have labeled the paragraphs for you. I have not, however, labeled the sentences for the sake of readability. Sorry I just felt the need to vent a little. Here is a big THANKS to all of my readers and contest entrants.

And Bloggrrl said I was flush....

Last week when announcing the winner of her contest for July and entering my August contest, Bloggrrl jokingly mentioned in passing that because I was giving away $100 and she only did $50 I was obviously more flush. Well check out this contest! And Michelle said I was flush.....

Over at Ashwin’s blog, you will find one crazy blog owner!! You can win $2500!! To enter just copy this text and paste it in your blog!! But hurry, this competition will not last long! So get posting!

Now I have to be honest, I'm like everyone else, I am still a bit skeptical. I can't however pass up the chance to win cold hard cash. Now since his contest ends on the 20th and mine on the 31st if I win Ashwin's contest I will be increasing the winning amount in my contest to $500 and the consolation prize to $100. Wish me luck in the contest.

Make Money Online with Rob Zombie's Halloween - Pt. 2

Now you may ask, "Cman Why in the world did you talk about the Halloween movie?" Well, as you can see from the end of this post this is a paid post through PayPerPost. To be honest I haven't done a single paid post through PayPerPost since my original review of the PayPerPost program. The reason behind this was that the available opportunities just didn't fit this blog. Obviously the Halloween review above doesn't necessarily fit into the theme of this blog it does illustrate the power of paid posting.

Paid and sponsored posts, when done correctly, can be a great stream of income to even advanced bloggers. I know that they get some criticism from people but when done within the framework of the blog's theme they can be integrated well and not be too obvious or intrusive. This particular opportunity through PayPerPost is one that pays quite well, and several of this level per week would be a nice little extra income, especially for beginning bloggers. There are bloggers who have several blogs on different topics and I know that some of them are making $1,000's per month doing sponsored posts.

I encourage you to head on over to PayPerPost and check out their program. I am sure that with their program and your blog you to can Make Money Online with Rob Zombie's Halloween!

Make Money Online with Rob Zombie's Halloween

Coming at the end of the month is a new movie in the long running Halloween slasher film series simply titled Halloween the movie. Now as a fan of the original 1978 Halloween film, though not the sequels, I was originally not very interested in yet another bad sequel when I first started hearing about a new movie. Though as I began to hear a bit more about the film and realized that Rob Zombie would be directing and that it would be not a sequel but as Zombie would put it a "re-imagining" I thought that it might be something of an interesting film.

Probably one of my recent favorite "scary", as opposed to "horror", movies Scream, as with most 80's and 90's "slasher" films, has it's roots in the Halloween franchise, the original picture being the most influential. The rules talked about in Scream, as well as the themes from other movies, really came from the style and the "survival of the virgins" theme from the original film. This will really put some pressure on Rob to deliver a top-notch movie, and I think he will deliver.

Now as a Rob Zombie fan I was encouraged by his involvement in the film I am really hoping he will bring a fresh perspective to the aging franchise. From viewing the trailer, linked below, and an interview with Rob about the movie, I really think he will bring more of his style from The Devils Rejects than from his first film House of a 1000 Corpses. Take a look at the trailer below to see some of what I'm talking about. The trailer seems to show that the movie will have a bit of a prequel feel to it as well as the re-imagining of the original story. After seeing the trailers and the interviews, and as a fan of "horror" movies, I am pretty excited to check out Halloween the movie when it comes out on August 31.

Referrals, Sh-t, Strip Poker, and Happy Men

This is going to be a shotgun post. Pull the trigger, let'er fly, and hope I hit something :) . I figured I could spread the love in one post instead of several smaller posts and it would save me some time and space on the front page.

First I want to say a big thanks to Kevin at BloggingTips for a great blog and a great forum. He ran a contest in July for the most referrals to the forum and I was lucky enough to win a bit of cash. I encourage all of you to head over to BloggingTips read his great articles and JOIN the BloggingTips FORUM. It is a very fast growing and active forum.

Well, I have to say that I also entered Bloggrrl's sh-tty contest :) and didn't win. :( I did however get a very sizable segment of broadcast time in her post announcing the winner and for that I am very thankful. Since I am, as she put it, "flush" she embarked on a small quest to part me from some of my "flushness" by making the first official entry in my What the F Does the C Stand 4 contest.

Now to return the favor, I have decided to heat up my blog and play strip poker with 2 hot grrl's - Bloggrrl and Bizgrrl. Of course, it is really just an exercise in role playing but hey give me a sexy bloggrrl dressed in a suit with cute glasses and I'll play along. Michelle, I'm still waiting on the picture of the new hair. Wish me luck in trying to win some sexy new "draw's" to wear. Check out the grrls and read my favorite post over there The 6 Guerrilla Blogger’s Marketing Commandments.

Moving over to cowboy, and girl, country and to one of my favorite blogs. Lori over at A Cowboy's Wife has written an interesting, entertaining, and very informative article on Keeping Your Man Happy. She has been married 14 1/2 years and I can see why. This is some sound advice and I'm looking forward to a follow up on what us guys should be doing :) . I love her pictures, except the ones of a horse getting the "Bobbitt" treatment, and her straight forward tell it like it is writing style.

What the F Does the C Stand 4

I know all of you have been waiting with baited breathe for my first contest. Well we are taking the plunge together. Here is the chance for all of you to win something for doing almost nothing. Hopefully you won't think this Contest is full of Sh-t.

For many many years I have had the "nickname," I guess you could call it, of Cman. Here lately, probably due in part to #10 in my 10 Reasons John Chow Probably Thinks This Blog Is About Him article, I have been getting asked more and more what the C in Cman stands for. Herein lays the focus of this contest. For the person who can guess what the C in Cman stands for I will give them $100. If multiple people guess correctly the winner will be chosen by random drawing from among the correct entries. If no one guesses correctly I will randomly pick from all entries and will award the winner of the losers $20.

Clarification:
1.In the words of Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez, "There can be only One." Winner that is. Either the winning guess or the winner of the losers.

2.Multiple people can guess the same answer. If there are multiple guesses of the correct answer the winner will be chosen at random from these correct guesses. So if you were unclear and would like to switch your guess to one already made feel free to let me know.

The answer to the decades long mystery of the "C" has been sealed in an envelope and placed in the care of a friend of mine, Ted Kosmatka ( The Prophet of Flores ), to be opened on August 15th.

3. Disheartened By Carping Criticism I Feel The Need to Elucidate

Rules:

Each additional post other than your first one must be at least 1000 words and full of nothing but praise or, if you are of a sarcastic bent, platitudes for this site.
